Study on the gradation effect on gangue compression property

Compression property of gangue is the basic data for designing subsidence control plan for gangue backfilling mining.Gangue is a kind of granular material and its graduation has a great influence on its compressive deformation.In this paper,cylinder compression experiments are carried out for three kinds of gangue,they are: samesizegangue,continuous graduation gangue and gangue with their sizes are determined by uniform design method.It can be concluded that the tress-strain curve of gangue shows similar with logistic urve.When the stress is small (less than 4 Mpa),the compressive strain of the group with large size is smaller than the group with small size due to the granular skeleton effect of large particles.When the stress is large (more than 4MPa),the amount of large particle breakage of the group with large size is much more than the group with small size and the strain increase amount of it is less than small group; The compressive strain of gangue is mainly determined by the percentage of small particles with a linear inverse relationship; large particle is indispensable for it plays a role as skeleton in the process of compression.Gradation optimization has a great effect for anti-compression property of gangue.For continuous gradation gangue,the property can increase by 30%.
