The cycling performance of Zn-Ni single flow battery is very poor when the area surface capacity of zinc deposition is up to 40 mAh cm-2.The addition of the electrolytic additive,TEAH and PbO,results in an increase in the coulombic efficiency from 90% to 93% and 95%,respectively.The cycling performance of the battery has been significantly increased.The mechanism of additives,TEAH and PbO was investigated.It is shown that the adsorption effect of TEAH on the substrate is relatively weak.The addition of TEAH in the electrolyte results in an improvement in kinetics of the zinc electrode.Thus,the battery performance can be enhanced.The effect of PbO added into the electrolyte results from the substrate and co-deposition for the lead deposition.Thus,the uniformity and stability of the zinc deposition can be largely improved.
