Rationale: Current knowledge related to the association between obesity and inflammation states that obesity causes systemic low-grade inflammation.Objective: C-reactive protein (CRP) has been widely accepted as a cardiovascular risk predictor and has been associated with a wide array of common chronic diseases in large epidemiological studies, however, it is controversial whether CRP has a causative role in the development of these diseases.
