Objective: To monitor the long-term root migration pattern and morbidities of the retained roots following coronectomy of the impacted lower third molar.Methods: A prospective longitudinal phase 4 clinical trial on safety and behavior after coronectomy of lower third molar was conducted.Patients presenting with specific radiographic sign(s) showing close proximity of lower third molar roots and inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) were recruited to undergo coronectomy.Follow-up visits were arranged at postoperative 1 week, 6,12,24,36 and 60 months to investigate root migration pattern and post-operative morbidities.
