Effects of heat treatment on the microstructure and pore properties of SiO2 aerosol

  SiO2 aerogel was prepared via the sol-gel and alcohol supercritical drying process.Effects of heat treatment temperature on the morphology and pore properties of the SiO2 aerogel were characterized by TG-DSC、 XRD、 SEM and BET, et al.Results showed the aerogel materials treated at different temperatures possessed amorphous, it gradually crystallized with the increase of temperature.At the same time, the three-dimensional network structure of the aerogel material can hinder the crystallization process, compared to the SiO2 powder.When heat treatment temperature was below 800 ℃, the space network structure of the aerogel can not be destroyed, and the particle was sintered and particles size increased;While when the heat treatment temperature increased further (above 800 ℃), the characteristic structure of the aerogel collapsed, resulting a decrease of particle size.The specific surface area of the SiO2 aerogel was 728.8m2/g, and after a heat process in the temperature range from room temperature to 1000oC, it decreased to 3.463m2/g.
