Content: Myxobacteria, belonging to the subclass delta-Proteobacteria of phylum Proteobacteria, are Gram-negative bacteria exhibiting multicellular behavior and gliding movement.Myxobacteria possess unique cell-to-cell communication system and complicated morphogenesis process that make them ingest in coordination and form fruiting bodies via signal sensing, therefore they are considered as a model in studying the multicellular behavior and morphogenesis of Prokaryotes.
