Numerous chemical compounds can form persistent toxic residues in air, soil, water and foods.Pesticides are one of the principal classes of such environmental pollutants which results in serious safety problems.Organophosphate pesticides that are mainly used in agriculture show low environmental persistence but display high acute toxicity.Their presence in water poses a potential hazard to human health. In general these compounds inhibit the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) participating in nerve-impulse transmission.Compared with the traditional procedures, based on gas chromatography(GC) and high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC), which are reliable but expensive, complicated, solvent extraction and time-consuming.
