Translocase of the inner membrane 9 and 10 (TIM9 and TIM10), commonly known as a TIM9:10 complex, is an important component of the mitochondria import apparatus, and shuttle between the outer and inner membrane of mitochondria.However, up to date, their function in plant development is still unclear.In this study, we report functional characterization of AtTIM9 and AtTIM1O through analysis of their mutations, that all of tim9-1/+, tim9-2/+, and tim1O/+ mutants display lethality of the homozygous embryos at the dermatogen stage which is arresting early embryo proper with 16/32 cells, and the double mutant tim9-1/+ tim10/+ showed the same phonotype.
