Objectives: To evaluate the influence of different ferrule configuration on fracture resistance of post and core restored maxillary premolar.Materials and methods: Forty-eight freshly extracted maxillary premolars were randomly divided into 6 groups(n=8)for different ferrule configuration and post and core materials.Group A: circumvent ferrule and fiber post and core.Group B: circumvent ferrule and Ni-Cr cast post and core.Group C: palatal ferrule and fiber post and core.Group D: palatal ferrule and Ni-Cr cast post and core.Group E: facial ferrule and fiber post and core.Group F: facial ferrule and Ni-Cr cast post and core. All of the teeth were restored with Ni-Cr complete metal crown and then the fracture resistance(N)was measured in a universal testing machine at 135 degrees to the long axis of the tooth until failure.
