One approach leading to changes in phosphor properties is substitution of part of the oxygen atoms with nitrogen ones.It allows creating new chemical environments of the active ion and thus alters the spectral distribution of its emission.Following this idea,replacing part of the oxygen atoms with nitrogen atoms in the Y3Al5O12(YAG)crystal structure could allow overcoming the weaknesses of the currently used white LEDs constructed from blue chip and yellow YAG:Ce phosphor.This applies to low CRI and high color temperature.
