Introduction In acute myeloid leukemia,FLT3 mutations are associated with a poor prognosis,particularly the internal tandem duplication.FLT3 is a tyrosine kinase receptor with an important role in survival and proliferation of hematopoieitic stem cells.This receptor is mutated in about one third of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients,either by internal tandem duplication (ITD) of the juxtamembrane domain or by point mutationsinvolving the kinase domain (KD).
