Objective Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a demyelinating disorder in peripheral nervous system which is similar in etiology with inflammatory demyelinating disease in central nervous system. However, the co-existence in an individual with both of these autoimmune disorders has been rarely reported. We report the concomitance of GBS and acute inflammatory demyelinating encephalopathy in one male, middle-aged patient.Pathological changes in both peripheral nerve and brain were described.Possible mechanism was discussed.
