Since photosynthetic efficiency determines their survival, plants have evolved a multilevel network of adaptations to track and cope with changes in the light environment.Changes in light quality are perceived by photoreceptors including the phytochromes (PHYs) and are signaled by dedicated signal transduction cascades, which crosstalk with other factors and pathways to optimize growth and adjust developmental programs.Plant hormones play key roles in light-controlled growth and development and one class, which is implicated is the Brassinosteroids (BRs).
