The fused silica composites were prepared by hot pressed sintering which is toughened by adding the chopped quartz fiber.The sintering process was optimized by researching the influence of the temperature and pressure on the crystallization behavior and mechanical properties of the silica composites.The phase transformation during the crystallization process and the toughening mechanism of the chopped fiber were investigated.In addition the thermal and dielectric properties were measured as well.
