Study on the Flexible Preventive Maintenance Strategy for Products Sold with Two-dimensional Warrant

  Providing an unlimited warranty with intent to monopolize the market is unrealistic because of extremely high servicing cost.This paper considers the problem of flexible periodic preventive maintenance planning under a two-dimensional warranty policy for the repairable product.Two types of customers are taken into account: (1) customers whose product warranty is terminated because the warranty usage limit has reached first;(2) customers whose product warranty is terminated because the warranty time limit has reached first.In this context, we perform cost analysis to determine the optimal periodic preventive maintenance strategy to satisfy the demands of these two types of customers.The provided results revealed that the two-dimensional warranty policy with flexible preventive maintenance strategy could effectively improve the profit of the manufacturer.
