The mechanism of charge transporting behavior in DNA is not very clear.However,DNA has become a material of significant interest for the bottom-up construction of nano circuitry.Tellurium,recently implanted to replace oxygen atom in DNA,is a non-metal element with much higher metallic property and stronger electron delocalizability than oxygen.Here,we carried out a proof-of-concept study on the conductance of DNAs substituted with tellurium atoms at different positions,and compared the quantum mechanical calculation results with the available experimental data.
