Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) represent an appealing cell source to develop disease-modeling assays, drug testing assays and cell-based replacement therapies. For the application of iPS to forms of autologous cell therapy, suitable animal models are required.Among species that could potentially be used for this purpose, guinea pig are particularly important and offer significant advantages.Especially, the guinea pig was the most widely used experimental animal for infectious disease studies especially the study M.tuberculosis.
