TIR-domain-containing adapter-inducing interferon-β (TRIF) is an adaptor for activation of some Toll Like Receptors (TLRs).It mediates one of two TLR-associated signaling cascades, where TRIF mediates a more delayed cascade and the other is dependent upon the MyD88 adaptor.In addition to the common MyD88-dependent pathway, TLR3 and TLR4 utilize a MyD88-independent signaling pathway that leads to the activation of IRF-3 and induction of IFN-β.
