The purpose of this study is to develop a liquefaction method of crop residues. The liquefaction of corn stover in the presence of ethylene glycol and ethylene carbonate using sulfuric acid as a catalyst was investigated. It was found that the liquefaction time decreased within increasing of ethylene carbonate content. The effects of temperature, catalyst content and solvent ratio on the liquefaction of corn stover were studied. A new method for liquefaction of agricultural wastes using recycled polyol has been developed. A first-order reaction model was established to conduct a scalable industrial process where the cellulosic plant products are liquefied to make later processing into various polymer materials and fuels possible.
