@@ The legacy of Handbook of Biolinguistics (Meader & Muyskens 1950/1962) in contemporary biolinguistics research can be partially highlighted from four aspects. First in the history of biolinguistics research, Meader & Muyskens clearly define the three parts or fields of biolinguistics – phonetics, semantics and hermeneutics. This treatment is rather different from the five central questions for the study of language and biology proposed in Chomsky (1991: 6). In fact, Meader & Muyskens mainly concerns the brain mechanism involved, but not the aspects of knowledge of language.
