Introduction The campos rupestres are Neotropical fire-prone altitudinal grasslands for which the relationship between fire and seed germination is poorly understood.Here, 1) we explore the diversity of germination strategies in the herbaceous communities of campos rupestres (Keeley 1987, Keeley et al 1997);2) we assess the germination of seeds produced immediately following a fire;and 3) we explore the ecology and evolution of seed dormancy (Baskin et al 2004).
