Extracellular leucine-rich repeat-containing receptor-like proteins (eLRR-RLPs) have been implicated in multiple biological processes including plant development and immunity to microbial infection.In Arabidopsis, fifty-seven AtRLP genes have been identified whereas only a few have been functionally characterized.To further understand their possible functions, in this study we have generated comprehensive transcriptional response profiles of AtRLP genes to a range of stress and hormones treatments.In addition, the evolution and co-expression of AtRLP genes have been elucidated.The results suggest that the majority of the AtRLP genes were differentially-regulated in response to various conditions tested, pointing to the hypothesis that many AtRLP genes are involved in response to various forms of environmental conditions in addition to microbial infection.Interestingly, many individual AtRLP genes expressed differentially under various conditions, suggesting a single AtRLP gene may participate in multiple signaling pathways.
