Knowing ones HIV status is key to accessing HIV care.This is the essential first step for any successful program.Access to care for HIV is difficult in most circumstances.For the poor and disenfranchised it is an even more problematic.However,this is exactly the population that must have access to care to curb the spread of HIV.Access to care can only work if individuals know their HIV status.Women are usually infected by men via heterosexual contact and unless in care will not only be devastated themselves but will also transmit the infection to their babies.Adolescent if not receiving care will also be devastated by the infection and will also transmit the infection.
