Steroids and cyclooxygenase inhibitors have long been used as major therapeutical anti-inflammatory agents with serious side effects in patients.Developing unique anti-inflammatory agents is currently in high demand.Curcurnin,an orange-yellow compound from turmeric,has established to be a potent immunomodulatory agent that can regulate the expression of inflammatory factors via binding with MD2 and IKKβ in LPS-TLR4 signaling pathway.However,its poor pharmacokinetic profile significantly limited its clinical application.
