The evolutionary biologist,Theodosius Dobzhansky,said: "Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution".The linguist,Philip Lieberman,commented after Dobzhanskysstatement (2000: 3): "Nothing in biology of language makes sense except in the light of evolution".Since brain serves as the biological basis of language,understanding the brain from an evolutionary point of view may be the only way for us to fully appreciate why language is so unique for human beings.
