The vibro-acoustic systems are usually handled by using the element based methods(finite element method(FEM),boundary element method(BEM)) and energy based method(statistical energy analysis). But in middle-high frequency range, the general element based techniques like FEM and BEM are ineffective because they need a large number of elements to represent the oscillatory wave nature of the dynamic response with the frequency increases. So the applicability of FEM and BEM is practically restricted to low-frequency dynamic problems.Statistical modal energy distribution analysis(SmEdA) is an improved SEA which is newly proposed and is based on the balance of modal power flows rather than the balance of subsystem power flows.SmEdA reformulates the SEA model without taking into account equipartition of modal energies and extends the SEA to middle-high frequency range. In brief,SmEdA is suitable to deal with the vibro-acoustic systems with middle-high frequency excitation.
