Objective: This presentation is to introduce short-lingual SSRO(sagittal split ramus osteotomy and adjunctive mandibular contouring surgery for patients cosmetic satisfaction.Methods: CAU protocol has been established in February 2014, based on 1688 patients we performed orthognathic surgery on for 4 years (2010-2013) in Chung-Ang University Hospital, Seoul, KOREA.In short-lingual SSRO, proximal segment includes lingual cortical bone in ramus area, which makes it possible to detach easily the medial pterygoid muscle and the stylomandibular ligament.Accordingly, surgical relapse could be minimized.Right after short-lingual SSRO, mandibular angle reduction can be completed perfectly, and so can vertical reduction of mandibular body height for the cosmetic purpose.
