LIM-homeodomain transcription factor 1 beta (Lmx lb) plays an important role in the development of the central nervous system (CNS).However,its detailed expression pattern and neurochemical characteristics of Lmxlb-expressing neurons in the postnatal mouse brain are not well known.In this study,we investigated the distribution of Lmx1b in the CNS at different postnatal stages by immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization.At postnatal day seven,Lmx1b was expressed in the posterior hypothalamic area,subthalamic nucleus,supramammillary nucleus and ventral premammillary nucleus.In the midbrain,Lmxlb was present in the compact part of substantia nigra and ventral tegmental area.In the hindbrain,Lmx1b was observed in the raphe nuclei,parabrachial nucleus,nucleus of the solitary tract,principal sensory trigeminal nucleus and laminae Ⅰ-Ⅱ of the caudal subnucleus of the spinal trigeminal nucleus.
