This work deals with development in Africa. It maintains that development is an intellectual process characterised by the primacy of production of goods for the satisfaction of human needs and demands though their distribution. It maintains that African countries provide other countries, especially those outside the continent with employment, wealth and development opportunities by exporting to them their natural resources in raw form.Prices of these resources are relatively cheap while those of finished products they import from these countries are relatively expensive. These goods are made from products of African countries. The solution to this structural problem is for African countries to have requisite knowledge to be able to convert their natural resources into finished products so as to primarily satisfy their national needs and demands.Africas mineral and agricultural resources are enormous and attractive for investment and catalysts of its development.Knowledge, skills and talents of its organic intellectuals committed to its development should be used best and most effectively as a proud continental asset in the advancement and achievement of development satisfying needs and demands of the majority of its people.Without this intellectual endeavour, the continent will not achieve its developmental objectives.
