The design and synthesis of artificial catalysts with natural enzyme performance is one of the goals which a great many scientists are always pursuing.Chemists have devoted to mimic the properties on natural occurring enzymes for a long time.Among them, selenoenzyme glutathione peroxidase (GPx), as one of important antioxidants exerting an important biological role in human bodies is attracting more and more attention.Herein, several strategies containing chemical, biological and supramolecular strategies or the combination of them for the design of artificial selenoenzymes have been developed, the artificial selenoenzymes have been designed and synthesized by single molecules, nanoparticles and recently supramolecules as scaffolds (one example see Schemel)[1-5].Study reveals that macromolecular and supramolecular strategies provide us powerful scaffolds for the design of artificial enzymes.
