Complex hydraulic conditions found in karst aquifers make it difficult to find widely agreed methods for characterising hydraulic properties of those aquifers. This study uses a Darcy-based approach in order to analyse unique historical data originating from the large-scale dewatering of an approximately 1 km thick dolomitic aquifer by deep-level gold mines near Johannesburg,South Africa.
