Micro-Insurance is a special type of insurance designed with low premium and small coverage in risk-pooling for low-income people,particularly for people living in the rural areas of developing countries.Protecting the safety of farmers residence from the threat of natural disasters is one of the top priorities in China to ensure growth and stability,and micro-insurance is positioned to be exactly addressing the issue.Based on the latest China earthquake risk model developed by RMS,Inc.in California,US with the collaboration from the Institute of Engineering Mechanics,China Earthquake Administration,we have studied the feasibility of an earthquake micro-insurance policy for the relatively under-developed rural areas in China with considerably high seismicity in the central and western part.
