Background, Motivation and Objective Lately, 3D ultrasound has become increasingly important. However, the image quality is generally lower than that of conventional 2D ultrasound. This is largely caused by the data reduction methods needed to transport the large amount of data produced by the matrix probe to the mainframe. Therefore, methods need to be developed to cope with such amount of data in an efficient and cost-effective way.
