Deoxybenzoins (DOBs) are intermediates in the synthesis of isoflavone and found in several plants. As important derivatives of isoflavones, deoxybenzoins exhibit a broad variety of biological activities including antibacterial,[1] urease inhibitory [2] and estrogenic [3] activity.Due to their structural similarities with known natural antioxidants such as resveratrol (stilbene) and phloretin (dihydrochalcone), DOBs act as a new class of compounds with great potential for development as antioxidants.
