  Raising and escalating concern in the bridge scour issue recently comes of extreme weather and population increment.Bridge damage caused by scour is even more common than earthquake did.Drastic scour results in reduction on both vertical and lateral capacity of any types of foundation.Eventually,bridge would be impaired directly or damaged by subsequent disaster.The main purpose of this study was athorough inquiry into the relationship of scour depth variation and bearing capacity of bridge pier.Lateral bearing capacity tests were conducted with a model pile foundation bridge pier under series of controlled condition.(Figure 1)
