Epimedium herb(named Yinyanghuo in China), comprising Epimedium brevicomu, E.koreanum, E.sagittatum, E.pubescens and E.wushanense, have been widely used as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for the efficacy on osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases, improvement of sexual function and immunoloregulation, etc.In our study, quanlitative and quantitative determination by HPLC coupled with ESI-MSn were applied to develop a specific and valid fingerprint analysis approach for comprehensive quality assessment of Yinyanghuo, together with chemometric methods such as similarity evaluation, principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analyse.
