In the present study,we have demonstrated for the first time the presence of a phospholipase A2 (PLA2) activity in N.nomurai jellyfish venom.PLA2 is a common toxin component of wide variety of venoms,and has neurotoxic,myotoxic,hemolytic,inflammatory effects.N.nomurai venom PLA2 activity is estimated to be 8.55 ± 0.90μmol/min/mg,whereas other jellyfish venoms tested in the present study have not shown such a PLA2 activity.To determine the enzyme stability,N.nomurai PLA2 was examined under various conditions of temperature,pH and divalent cation.
