The heme-containing Cytochrome P450 (CYP450) family of enzymes is involved in phase Ⅰ metabolism of a large number of drugs and xenobiotics in the liver.Recent reports have indicated elevated CYP450 family members gene expression implying that these enzymes are implicated in other biological processes beyond their role in phase Ⅰ metabolism.
