Background Variant angina is caused by spontaneous coronary artery spasm.Calcium-channel antagonists and nitrates are effective in most patients, but 5%-30% of patients are refractory to aggressive medical treatment.Percutaneous coronary intervention can be used to treat variant angina. However, the efficacy reported from different centers is variable. This topic is not well studied and is the subject of few literature reports. In the following study, we observed the efficacy of coronary stenting in twenty-one patients with variant angina refractory to medical treatment.
