Phillips Cr/Silica catalyst has been widely applied in the industrial production of high-density polyethylene.1 Only a few years after the discovery of the Phillips catalyst, interestingly, Hogan and coworkers from the Phillips Petroleum Company reported that the short alkynes cyclotrimerized over the same Phillips catalyst to give high-yields aromatic products.
