To investigate the mechanisms of hemolysis of tentacle extract (TE) from the jellyfish Cyanea capillata,a major kind of jellyfish in southeast Chinese coastal waters,the effects of Ca2+,calcium antagonists (diltiazem,verapamil and nifedipine) and osmotic protectants (polyethylenglycole,PEG) upon the hemolytic power of TE were studied in 0.45% erythrocyte suspensions isolated from the rats.
