  The paper investigated the localized economics of a lignocellulosic ethanol production technology developed by NREL[1] in China,based on nth–plant project costs and 2013 prices.The results show that the plant-gate price(FGP)ranges from $4.68 to $6.05/gal EtOH(9,550-12,356 yuan/t).The key components that contribute most to the cost of ethanol production includes the ratio of 5-carbon sugars converted to ethanol,enzyme loading,byproduct credit,the conversion rate of cellulose to glucose,feedstock cost,etc..Lignocellulosic ethanol cant compete with fossil gassoline in terms of economics at present,therefore incentive policies are imperative to promote its development.
