Polyaniline-poly(styrene sulfonate)(PAn-PSS)hydrogels based activated carbons were prepared and the pore structure and surface property were characterized. These activated carbons possessed plenty of mespores to ensure the smooth entrance of the adsorbates and were nitrogen-enriched to form chemical bonds with adsorbates. The adsorption behavior of creatinine on these activated carbons was studied. These activated carbons showed preferable adsorption ability of 341.2 mg/g.Freundlich model was employed to describe the isothermal adsorption behavior of creatinine. Moreover, the adsorption kinetics of creatinine was discussed.Kinetic adsorption data was treated according to the pseudo-second-order model. The result showed the adsorption equilibrium was reached within 7 h and its adsorption rate was 53.7%.
