Coronary arteries are dynamic and responsive to stimuli.While most imaging techniques have focused on detecting structural coronary artery disease, abnormalities in coronary vasodilation and flow also may contribute to disease and symptoms.Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can perform high-resolution coronary artery imaging and can be repeated after stimuli as it does not involve ionizing radiation.MRI can also directly measure blood flow velocity.
