Today,the pharmaceutical industry is restructuring dramatically and rather painfully.During this time ofchange,innovative new models for research and business are required to compete for the necessary capital globally to fill the pipelines of pharmaceutical companies and address the needs of the global healthcare industry.These models require:1) alignment of interests for the ultimate goal (approved,impactful drugs),2) diverse enough portfolios to reduce the costs of building and disassembling research teams and enable objective assessment and termination of suboptimal teams,3) clear "buyer" for research upon completion,and most importantly,4) the creation of exceptional,experienced,and passionate research teams.
