At present, China’s residential development or major demolition and construction mode in the conservation-oriented society of today, is nothing more than damage on the environment, both residential regeneration must be enforced. Japan, with Japanese collection of vacant residential upward trend has become an important model of the Japanese residential development on the renewal and transformation of the existing cluster of houses, and thus become an important topic in research on the sustainable use of existing resources."Empty nest sites Reconstruction Workshop, jointly organized by the Dalian University of Technology and the University of Tokyo in2010to the1980s, public housing and60s Corporation residential, to carry out the data collection, field research, problem analysis and regeneration proposals for design activities.The first workshop by the recent Sino-Japanese both residential regeneration of a large number of cases research and analysis, according to the level of theory will be divided in three levels of the external environment, the support body and fill the body, summed up a variety of regenerative design. Summary of the regeneration methods of design for the workshop renewable provided the design basis.Followed by workshops to Dalian, China,1980s stone Thistle Community "public housing" and the post-war Japan Corporation Residential "-Tama level forest group regeneration design objects for research, respectively, through visits, questionnaires, data collection method, summed up the Chinese and Japanese housing characteristics and the transformation of the status quo, and analysis of existing problems. On this basis, for the respective different problem from three levels of the external environment, the support body and fill the body put forward their proposals for targeted regeneration.
