With the deepening of Chinas reform and opening up,economic factors and esources in the region flow freely with the laws of the market economy,local governments inevitably become the main competitors in the regional economic arena.Rational Bse of foreign investment is important component of governments economic functions.Since the reform and opening policy WaS conducted,foreign investments in Guangzhou City have proved to be fruitful.Guanszhou as the center of the Pearl River Delta has become a factory of the world,thousands of enterprises providing a large number of employment opportunities and bringing new technology and management methods,which promote economic development to make PRD Chinas most affluent Region.With Chinas fully open,the less-advanced cities are catching up.The preferential policies are inclined to be identical.Thus,Guangzhous competitive edge gradually fades away.The Yangtze River Delta in East China,and Beijing-Tianj in-Hebei-Bohai economic circle in North China have shown amazing vitality,attracting more and more foreign investment to settle down.The days of sitting in the office waiting for foreign investment is gone.Therefore,competing with other cities to attract foreign investments tops the agenda of Guangzhou municipal government.On one hand,we shall improve the investment environment;on the other hand,a good job in promotion is badly needed.Only an expanded outreach to promote advantages,establish favorable image,increase popularity and recognition,will it be possible to Guangzhou city in the fierce competition come to the fore.This paper takes the Guangzhou municipal government as study subject,and use communications and marketing theories to analyze the content of external promotion and characteristics,introduce the current situation,the successful experiences and existing problems,and conclude with suggestions on promotion in foreign investment attraction.Key words:public communication,promotion on foreign investment attraction。
