The concept of motivation inside the working environment has become the centre of attentionfor many researchers the last decades.The reason behind this increased interest is mainlybecause the word is changing day by day, therefore, human needs change as well.In this fastgrowing world the need for the researchers to bring new knowledge around this field hasaroused.Thus, because of the importance of this topic there is a big amount of theories andmodels which attempt to explain the concept of motivation.Motivation and performance of the employees are essential tools for a successful organization.Most managers are focused on keeping their employees motivated and willing to work.Eventhough, a small portion of them do not understand what actually motivate a person is.Firmshave as obligation to identify their employees needs in order to succeed in the workplace.Inthis article, I will focus on the concept of the motivation and I will examine the theories of it.Also, I will focus on the two types of motivation namely, financial and non-financial and onthe way that managers can motivate their employees using both methods during difficulteconomic conditions.It is highly important to examine both types of motivation, thus I willfocus on the ways that managers can motivate their employees using financial approaches aswell as non-financial.During difficult economic conditions, the factor money is not the onlyone factor that is able to motivate employees to achieve their best.Moreover an analysis ofthe case study from HCL company will be provided in order to clearly identify how managerskept the employees motivated during the financial crisis of 2008.Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to identify the most important factors that motivateemployees in their workplace during a difficult economic situation.Also focuses onidentifying and examining the connection between organizational effectiveness andemployees motivation.
