艾丽斯·沃克作为美国当代一位杰出非裔女作家,创作颇丰,其代表作《紫色》在文坛占有重要地位。小说通过对西丽等女性角色的塑造,不仅颂扬了非裔女性的觉醒意识与革命性举动,而且着意刻画了她们经历的悲剧,同时展现了美国20世纪初期一段奇特的社会风情画卷。本文主要从创伤理论的视角,以小说中西丽为代表的女性角色为剖析对象,通过分析她们成长过程中经历的种种创伤,试以揭示其悲剧的社会根源。
Alice Walker, as an outstanding African American contemporary writer, is quite creative and his masterpiece “Purple” occupies an important position in the literary world. By shaping the female characters such as Xili, the novel not only praises the awakening consciousness and revolutionary move of African American women, but also paints the tragedy they experience and shows a peculiar picture of social customs in the early 20th century in the United States. From the perspective of trauma theory, this article analyzes the female characters represented by Xili in the novel as the object of analysis. By analyzing the traumatic experiences they experienced in the process of growing up, this article attempts to reveal the social causes of their tragedies.
