Objective: To evaluate the efficacy ofcombined invigorating Kidney for PreventingAsthma (IKPA) tablets and beclomethasonedipropinate (BDP ). Methods: Fifty--sevenseasonal asthmatic patients were studied.They were randomly assigned to either of thetwo groups f the treated group (n = 32) treated with the IKPA tablets and inhalated BDP,the control group (n = 25) inhalated BDPsingly. Measurements of serum eosinophilcationic protein (ECP), soluble II---2 receptor(SIL--2 ) t total eosinophil counts, spirometryand methacholine challenge were performedbefore and after treatment. Results: After 3months ) treatment and 6 months ) observationthe authors observed a significant improvementin both groups. The treated group had betterclinical efficacy and the ECP level had reducedsignificantly, FEVI increased greatly than thecontrol group. Conclusions: The two drugsinfluenced the function of eosinophils and Tlymphocytes and this might contribute to theefficacy.
